Care Guide
1. Light Place your bonsai in bright, indirect sunlight. Can tolerate some direct morning or late afternoon sun, but avoid harsh midday sun in Dubai—it can scorch leaves. Indoor placement near a south-facing window works well. 2. Watering Check soil first: Stick a finger 2–3 cm into the soil. If dry, water. Frequency: Summer: ~2 times per month (soil dries faster in Dubai heat). Winter: ~1 time per month (growth slows down). Water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom. Avoid standing water. Mist leaves occasionally to maintain humidity. 3. Soil Use well-draining bonsai soil. Mix can include akadama, pumice, and organic compost. 4. Fertilizing Growing/flowering season (spring–early summer): Feed every 2–3 weeks with liquid bonsai fertilizer. Dormant season: Fertilize once a month or stop. 5. Pruning & Shaping Trim new shoots to maintain shape. Remove yellow or dead leaves to encourage growth. Wiring can be used to shape branches but do it gently. 6. Repotting Repot every 2–3 years in early spring. Remove 20–30% of roots and refresh soil. 7. Flowering If it’s a flowering bonsai, blooms typically appear spring–early summer. Ensure it gets enough light and water for better flowering. 8. Pests & Issues Watch for mealybugs, aphids, or spider mites. Use insecticidal soap if infestation occurs. Yellowing leaves → too much water. Dropping leaves → too little water or sudden temperature changes. 9. Pot & Placement Your bonsai comes in a decorative pot with drainage, which is perfect. Avoid placing it on the floor in areas with drafts or extreme sunlight.
